Me: You do know that not every intimate relationship involves sex or romance, right? That people can be very close to each other without being sexually or romantically involved? And that claiming otherwise actively damages real non-sexual, non-romantic relationships by spreading the notion that people can’t be emotionally close without being sexually and romantically involved? You do realize sexual and romantic relationships aren’t the only kinds that are important to people, right?

To the people who are like “no u just hate gay people” like… no… we’re not saying “don’t ship gay ships”–ship what you like. That’s not the problem. (Plus the fact that this applies to… really characters of any gender, not just two of the same gender.)
The problem is the mindset of “oh these two characters are close, so that means THEY HAVE TO BE IN A ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP, THERE IS NO OTHER EXPLANATION.”
Do you not understand how unhealthy of a mindset that is?
Do you not understand the importance of close friendships? Of close familial relationships? (Because, yes, people do use the crappy “oh these two characters are close, so they must be in a ~romantic relationship~” logic to apply to siblings, parents and children, and other familial relationships.)
Ship what you want. But don’t tell me “these two characters are close, therefore they must be romantic and there is no other explanation.”
If you do not have any close platonic relationships, I genuinely feel sorry for you.
