So I’m pretty sure that ancient Hebrew doesn’t have the superlative form for its adjectives, so if you wanted to say that God was the holiest you called him the “holy of holies”. This could apparently be applied to nouns as well, so a translation of the “Song of Songs” could just be “The Songiest” or “The Most Song,” which is what I call it when I think about it (but never in public).
I did not expect this post to be a hit? The guys in my OT class didn’t really laugh when I said something to this effect …
