I love this orb weaver spider.  It looks more Nintendo character than arachnid.   It is also special in that it is endemic to the upper Amazon Basin and the only species known within its genus.  Encyosaccus sexmacculatus is its name!   I had come across it my first trip to the Ecuadorean Amazon, and had it in the back of my head hoping to stumble across it again on my second….a month went by and no sign….but then… I found it once again in almost the same location as the first time- on my very last day in the jungle.   What a treat.
