Meteorologist forced to cover up on air

Meteorologist Liberté Chan was in the middle of her forecast when she was given a cardigan to cover up. Viewers were apparently writing in, appalled by her outfit. In a second video posted to her Facebook page, Chan and a coworker read some of the “angry emails” and responded.

Sorry for this feminist words but

WHAT WAS IT REVEALING?! Legs?! NOT EVEN LOTS OF CLEAVAGE! Goooooood some people are just SO. CONSERVATIVE I wanna throw up

Which is why I reblogged it. There’s a well defined line between inappropriate and appropriate. She was dressed appropriately for the job and was rocking the outfit.

I’ve seen way worse dressed metereologists, like you saw EVERYTHING

I’d have loved the jacket to be honest. TV studios are cold cold places, the AC is icy. That being said, it really wasn’t that revealing compared to what I’ve seen. Then again, Australians are half naked any time we get a decent excuse whether it’s the weather or a local pub crawl.

From Reddit:

Transcript:

So, to be clear, I was watching this broadcast.

She wore the sweater for the remainder of that weather segment (1-2 minutes) and then took it off and just wore the dress for the rest of the broadcast (several hours).

This kind of thing is pretty in-line with the type of humor the KTLA hosts (especially Chris Borroughs, the male host here) inject into their morning news segments. Even more so on weekends.

Liberte (the weather woman) does typically wear more conservative dresses, so I’m guessing it was just an attempt by Borroughs to poke fun at her during a slow news day. She even came out and showed the dress that she planned to wear that day and explained it wasn’t working with the green screen.

If the station really had an issue with her or the dress, they would have made her change or keep the sweater on the entire broadcast.

It’s a bit ridiculous to go all SJW on this. Watch KTLA morning news for a few months and you’ll start seeing that this is just kinda how they do things.

Here’s a similar incident, except in this case it was a complication with the green screen:

@trueinyourlies @thatgirltheycallrichu you can put your pitchforks away on this one.

As for micdotcom…not necessarily surprised. Outrage culture gets them clicks and they tend to capitalize on it whether or not it ends up being factually sound.

TL;DR: They were just dicking around with each other, there is no sexism here.

And once again, the day is saved, thanks to… the people who do actual research rather than kneejerk reactions.

ahhh my bad. Ok I reblogged this before, but now here it is with proper context

They also made a video of them receiving emails from complainers, y’all need to shut up with that condescending shit sometimes because we all know why the hell y’all be quick to dismiss the shit
