Seeing the advent of Midjourney and NovelAi really causes me so much emotional pain. It took 23 years to come into my own as an artist and I built my life around it, now it’s like I’m watching my identity being scalped in real time.

I’ve already had clients drop me because they could make high quality art for free in under 60 seconds. This shits devastating. Arts all I am good at, what’s left when you take that from me?

I generated these with words in under 60 seconds. The damage also goes beyond this. Literally yesterday there was an artist streaming , and about 80% of the way through their work someone screenshotted their WIP, uploaded it to an AI, and posted the finished work a few hours before the actual artist and had the AUDACITY to accuse her of theift.

People are selling AI generated art as if it was original, when the art itself is trained off of stolen art/ on large just slightly tweaked iterations of other peoples work.

I don’t think I’m going to be okay

Ughhhhh that sucks.

I hate this. And I suppose it should go without saying – if you generate or post AI art based on others’ works, including my own, I will fully deny you any commission work.

Genuine question, is it reasonable to generate AI art based on words, then post, so long as we make it clear it is AI not real (of course)?
