Luisa and Mirabel have a really great and sweet relationship. Luisa seems genuinely very kindhearted and like she takes her role as big sister
seriously. She also doesn’t treat her differently for having no powers.
When she gets in the way of Luisa, she responds with “careful sis”, unlike Isabela who responds with an angry “what is your problem!?”
And unlike Isabela who is jealous and thinks Mirabel has it easy, Luisa is never seen showing that kind of attitude despite being probably one of the most overworked Madrigal, to the point of being compared to a mule (beast of burden).
The one time we see her yell at Mirabel, she apologizes immediately saying “uh, wow… sorry, that snuck out there”, showing that she almost never gets angry at Mirabel, if ever.
In Surface Pressure she tells Mirabel to give her burdens to her and Mirabel
smiles for a split second (while Luisa worries about things that will hurt Mirabel). They also don’t have the kind of animosity that Maribel had with Isabela at the start.
And finally, I mean… look at this 🥺
Mirabel looks so uncertain, I’m wondering if they forgot her again but Luisa noticed and dragged her into the photo.
I hope if a series comes out we will get to explore this dynamic more.
Encanto has some of the best designs and characters Disney’s had in years! They’re all so good, I had no idea which ones I wanted to draw first but then Félix is a wife guy and Pepa can be terrifying so their relationship is amazing
I think it’s cute how all the Madrigal kids have like, a designated grown-up? Like, obviously this is a loving family and everyone loves one another but when there’s that many you end up with favorites/people who think they’re your favorites.
So here’s how I think the designated grown-ups go:
Isabela-> Abuela: Obviously, she spent years as Abuela’s golden child. She wants Abuela to be happy.
Luisa-> Agustín: I have little reasoning other than they play the piano together and she kinda gives me wholesome daddy’s girl vibes.
Mirabel-> Julieta: She loves all her kids equally. But Mirabel needed a little extra attention because she didn’t have a gift. Plus, that means Mirabel was the least busy in town and could hang out the most.
Camilo-> Pepa: A MOMMA’S BOY!! (Let the middles be coddled 2k22!!!) He loves his Mami. Period. We all know it.
Dolores-> Bruno or Félix: Okay so hear me out. Bruno because being the only one to listen to him for years. Her dad because her dad always has her back against Camilo and he’s the other even keeled one of their branch.
Antonio->Mirabel: But wait, Mirabel is a kid? Not to Antonio. She is absolutely his guide to the world and how he understands grown-ups even if he knows she’s more a ‘grown-up lite’ right now.
Félix : Dandelions symbolize everything I want to be in life
Agustín : Fluffy and dead with a gust of wind?
Félix : Unapologetic. Hard to kill. Feral, filled with sunlight, bright, beautiful in a way that the conventional and controlling hate but cannot ever fully destroy. Stubborn. Happy. Bastardous. Friends with bees. Highly disapproving of lawns. Full of wishes that will be carried far after I die.
I’ve seen some people confused about the canonical ages of the madrigals so Im here to clear up the confusion (idk if people have posted this here but eh)
To sum up:
Alma is 75, and all of the second gen adults are 50
Isabela and Dolores are both 22, making them the eldest of their siblings
