Context: I killed off my character (a human medic) for plot reasons, and I wrote this little monologue for it and I’m real proud of it, so…
(Note: There is no resurrection in this world.)
“She doesn’t think about the fact that her girlfriend has a spare body to inhabit. She doesn’t think about how the fate of the world is partially depending on her. She doesn’t think about her friends or family or anything else.
She doesn’t think at all. It’s a knee jerk reaction, a reflex, to save someone. To save someone she loves. Because saving people is what she does. She’s a medic. It’s what she wants. It’s what she knows.
So, yeah, she jumps in front of her girlfriend and gets hit by the life drain. And I doubt she regrets it for even a second.
Humans are nothing if not irrational when it comes to emotions, especially love.
And… she dies. [Medic] dies in front of you all, in her girlfriend’s arms.”
Bonus:
“…holy fuck I’m the DM and I knew this was coming, I helped PLAN it, but I’m still crying.”
