Cryptid Drawtober Day 14—Trunko

Off the coast of South Africa in October of 1924, two killer whales were seen battling with a strange creature for over three hours. The beast was described as being covered in white fur and possessing a lobster-like tail and an elephant-like trunk—hence it being nicknamed “Trunko.” The creature reportedly did not survive the encounter with the orcas and was later found washed ashore.

Definitely one of the weirder cryptids and while it was likely just a made-up story tagged on to the discovery of a blobster (aka a dead whale or other large, decayed marine animal) on a beach I guess you could say it’s still a whale of a  fun “tail.”
