Fathers Day
So, I did some Googling, because I keep seeing idiots with the hashtag #EndFathersDay post tweets on tumblr to abolish it because it somehow promotes male superiority and dehumanizes women, or some BS like that, idk what their argument even is. Anyway, as I was digging, I found something that will probably really bug feminists who want to end fathers day on here.
In 1910, the first fathers day was celebrated in a YMCA in Washington. The person who was responsible for it? Sonora Smart Dodd. A woman who wanted to celebrate fathers, and fatherhood and all that fathers do for their children. She wanted to celebrate the accomplishments of fathers because she was inspired by the holiday of mothersday, and even more so because her father had raised her as a single parent. It would not be until the 60’s for the day to have a set date, but the origins date back to this amazing woman.
