Oh my god. I got a letter exactly like this in Louisville, KY. The exact same wording and everything. I threw mine out because there was no letterhead or information and I thought it was just a scam but I had no idea that it was this bad. I have no idea how they found me. Please be safe out there.

This thread is a great example of how Tumblr can escalate issues and mould them to fit their narratives.
In actual fact, these letters are part of a pyramid scheme intended only to make money. Any link to human trafficking has been debunked by Snopes. Even for those not willing to be a little sceptical before leaping to the worst possible conclusion, or to at least Google the company name, the very first post here mentions somebody’s son receiving one, and then we letter or get evidence of a letter addressed to Jonathan. In fact, a few of the respondents claiming to have received one are (apparently) male.
Nevertheless, just two comments on from Jonathan’s letter we get littleblackchat sharing his story as a warning “since so many of my followers are female”. That implies either that they have somehow missed that these supposed human traffickers also target men, or that they simply don’t care about their male followers being under threat.
Two more comments on, icandrawthings distils the essence of that response and delivers a much more potent taste of both gender bias and nonsense. From “men and women are targeted by a financial scam”, we get “this is why I don’t take selfies, fuck men” with #feminism tagged.
One misunderstanding of it being human trafficking, then another misreading of it being female-targeted, and we end up with “fuck men #feminism” in a handful of steps. That comment has then been reblogged a number of times, becoming a central part of the circulating thread and its message. That’s how information works on here.
I’ve gotten tons of these letters and emails too. Obviously they’re not human traffickers, but it’s not worth it either and it probably is a scam. I actually did find their website once and they advertise themselves as a telemarketing company that goes door-to-door selling knives. WHAT the fuck.
