In the Role Reversal/Scary Sabine AU the Marichat dynamic is actually more like Ladrien. The biggest difference is that Chat Blanc gets to see a fumbling and stuttering Marinette – something he’s never seen before while being the class clown and desperately trying to impress her as Adrien. It’s the first time he ever sees anything from her that says maybe, just maybe, he could affect her the way she affects him.
Even as Pink Lady, she is relatively smooth like Chat Noir and her mask allows her to speak frankly and without fear. He just attributes her affections only to her friendly personality and is blinded by his unrequited crush on his classmate.
