Period Policy: Paid days off for women during their period?
If this becomes widespread practice, I don’t ever
E V E R
want to hear you utter the words ‘wage gap’ ever again for the rest of all eternity.
Special treatment, not equality.
Put your big girl panties on, take some motrin, and get your ass to work. Why do we pander to these children? This is stupid.
I work in daycare and don’t complain. That’s a physically demanding job. It’s hard labor. I still perform my job just fine on my cycle. I’ve got Type One Diabetes, should I have “paid high blood sugar days?”
No, because I’m going to get told to suck it up, fix the mistake with my medicine, and get back to work. It should be no different.
And if you’re cramps affect you that bad, you need to see a doctor, because that’s not normal.
For thousands of years women have dealt with theirs without medicine and the things we have today. If you can’t soldier through one day with it then you are a disgrace and wimp. And yea if the are that bad you need a doctor cause it could be doing real damage but if it’s just normal cramps then suck it up buttercup
Wow this can’t be real. I want to be treated equally, but owie ow ow my uterus makes me less than you I get to stay home wow just dumb…
I WILL ALWAYS RANT ABOUT “PERIOD LEAVE” BECAUSE IT WILL HARM WOMEN IN THE WORKPLACE, NOT HELP THEM.
If you do less work than a man every month yet get paid the same amount: then guess what buttercup??? Employers are less likely to hire women! You really want that for your grrl power generation? You think the mythical “wage gap” will be your biggest problem then?
And not only that but it’s an insult to women who menstruate. Do you know what you say to people when you say, “Oh, women need time off for their periods!” YOU ARE TELLING THEM THAT MENSTRUATION MAKES THEM WEAK. You are telling women themselves and their employers that they are essentially useless while they bleed. Do you know how hard women have worked to convince the world that menstruating doesn’t make us dirty or less than, and that we can’t function properly. You are turning NORMAL biological function into a DISEASE. Do you really want to tell people menstruating women are diseased???
Like the others have said, this should only be reasonable for women with horrendous afflictions associated with their periods. For anyone reading this, PLEASE check out Natural Procreative Technology, natural-fertility-info.com, alternative menstrual products, and Night Lighting and so on. Doctors are not always super compassionate when it comes to women’s health, so try to find specialists who are trained to detect and treat the causes of your heavy bleeding and cramping. They can do more than tell you its in your head, or try to push the Pill on you.
And if you are like me and enjoy a little “pampering” while you bleed, look into ways to do that during the day in a way that won’t interfere with work. Some workplaces may allow you to use aromatherapy oils or candles to light at your desk, you can bring a warm bottle or pad to work with you to wear as you work on your computer, or you can bring in a special snack you like for your lunch break to “treat yo self”. Heck, schedule a small “me day” for when you get home whether it’s a nap, a nice bath, or curling up to watch your fave movie. You can bleed and take care of yourself without having to compromise your work day.
And that’s that I guess. Don’t be a privilege-sucker and ruin it for the rest of us.
Reblogging this as if anyone who follows me actually reads my posts/reblogs but still THESE ARE ALL GOOD POINTS ^^^^
