PACK YA BAGS MOTHERFUCKERS

Gonna be fucked up when we show up and there’s just old escape pods all around its orbit that are clearly pointing towards earth

My guy this is the planet that the Phoenix lights spacecraft came from and nobody can tell me otherwise

Lebensraum!

if it can sustain life it’s probably already inhabited so we might have to fight for it…

“Humans could reach it in a few decades.” Meaning they are more optimistic about reaching a whole other star system before we even reach mars…or are they saying it would take decades of travel to get there. Meaning we need to find a way to survive for decades in a spaceship. I wouldn’t get too excited, astronomers do this all the time so people will pay attention to them and hopefully give them research grants. Every few years you hear hey look a planet that could be like earth an assertion based on mostly wishful thinking and wild guesses. Most of these discovered planets are discovered with mathematics and theoretical physics so they could very well not even exist at all nevermind being a habitable planet. Then they put it next to computer generated images based on absolutely no real information and we’re supposed to shit our pants.

I love astronomy but in the grand scheme of the universe we have so little information and so few tools to get more information. So much so that the level of confidence these scientists have when they make their claims is ridiculous. We can’t even agree on how earth works for fucks sake and we are on it. And they think they know something about how a planet none of us have ever seen looks and functions. These possibilities are of course fascinating to consider but come on, be realistic.

I’m also with Louis CK on this one, there is no good version of oh cool we found aliens. I understand the morbid curiosity and the desire to know no matter what. There is not just a possibility of conflict it would be a miracle if there wasn’t.

Or perhaps even scarier…what if this is it. What if in that incomprehensible expanse of space there is nobody else, and there is nowhere else to go. Logically it’s likely there is something else somewhere out there but…there very well might not be. This could be it.
