And I’d be willing to bet that 1.6% is too high a number considering plenty of blacks, native americans, and other non-whites owned slaves too.

The arab-african slave trade had more white slaves from eastern Europe than all Africans sold to Americans by African slave traders.

Not to mention the majority of the “white” families in america were still in europe when slavery was prevalent.

I knew most people didn’t own slaves but… 1.6%? That’s quite a small number to judge every single white person with.

I actually didn’t know that. 

Also, it was touched upon, but not all slave owners were white.
American =/= white. 

As a matter of fact, there are currently more slaves in the world than there ever were in history! It really doesn’t take much digging, there are countless articles on this. This is the first one that popped up, but since there are so many i just advice you to search for ‘more slaves now than ever’ because there’s no way i’m going to be able to list them all.
