As you a mature in your faith, you realize more and more how holiness is more important than happiness, as believers. That truth can sting a bit. As much as I want to believe that God wants me to be happy all the time… that’s not His ultimate goal for us. When we strive for holiness, we become more obedient followers of Christ. Our hearts become more like His. Our ways begin to align with His ways. And His ways are far better than any of the plans we’ve made for ourselves. So really, the holier our hearts become, the more God is able to use us. THEN comes the true joy each one of us desires. This joy outlasts any temporary happy thoughts. His holiness is worth the pursuit.
Only when you realize this can you mature spiritually. Amen!
As it turns out, just like how you feel full and rich when do you something altruistic, pursuit of holiness leads to a more substantive and meaningful happiness — joy. It makes every other type of happiness so silly and worthless.
Remind all young people of this fact…
