Lee is also in agreement with the requirement that Parker’s sexuality should remain as originally written, but is open to the idea of other homosexual comic book characters.
“I think the world has a place for gay superheroes, certainly,” he said. “But again, I don’t see any reason to change the sexual proclivities of a character once they’ve already been established. I have no problem with creating new, homosexual superheroes.”
Lee was also keen to point out that his remarks had nothing to do with bigotry, but rather with staying true to his work.
“It has nothing to do with being anti-gay, or anti-black, or anti-Latino, or anything like that,” he said. “Latino characters should stay Latino. The Black Panther should certainly not be Swiss. I just see no reason to change that which has already been established when it’s so easy to add new characters. I say create new characters the way you want to. Hell, I’ll do it myself.”

They don’t want to make their own thing, they want the thing that’s already successful and loved to be theirs.
It’s more than just that. They want to inherit decades of cultural capital without putting forth any effort in the creation or consumption of the material.
They want Peter Parker’s story to be one of a gay boy who once believed he was strait and living a lie. But they don’t want do the work of having the narrative buildup to that reveal. Just have it change and claim everything before it is wrong.
They want IronHeart to swoop in on a 4/10 book and shove 8 inches of poorly written characters up our asses without lube and pretend like its the perfect direction for the Iron Man book to go in.
They want Kamala Khan to be a muslim hero to teach kids that muslims are people too, but then not care enough to support her books to make sure she got good writers, and instead being handed off to some ass who only knows how teen girls act from Disney Channel sitcoms.
They want a black Peter Parker, but constantly forget that Miles Morales exists, and ignore that he is a more entertaining Spider-man.
They want more latino heroes, and then never bought a single issue of Jaime Rayes as the Blue Beetle before the reboot.
They wanted more fat heroes, and then never bought any of Zephyr’s solo run. I mean, it wasn’t a good book, but it had enough traction to get some better writers a body positive fat girl with flight powers could’ve been great.
Once again, there is not gate to keep. They’re just shutting themselves out and then screaming when shown the way. You all ever see a toddler cry when they can’t fit the square block through the circle hole? It’s like that.

Agree with everything except Miles Morales being more interesting than Peter Parker. And is Zephyr that fat chick who ended up with Hillary Clinton in her comic? If so, that shit deserved to get canceled. But yeah, the overall message is right. You want different characters? Create them yourself or at the very least support them when they come out (which means buying the comics/books/movies/whatever, not just reblogging panels or gifsets online and harassing creators). But don’t demand every character change to fit your specific tastes and then throw a fit and call people names when it doesn’t happen. That’s childish and it alienates anyone who might want similar things that you do but isn’t a shrieking autistic harpy.
