Domestic violence is funny when it happens to men. Fortunately there’s a shelter nowhere he can go. Feminists everywhere can rejoice that there’s one man who “understands” the impact of domestic violence.
As his girlfriend went after his face with garden shears he was very proud that he never once hit her back.
Else he wouldn’t be able to call the police. And we both know why.
can anyone tell me who the girl on the right is?
Kelly Brook I believe.
“And we both know why.”
Everyone should know at least one reason why men are less likely to report their abuse.
That feel when people don’t realize that shit like this is one of the many things feminists hate about toxic masculinity. Feminists aren’t the ones claiming that abused men aren’t real men or making jokes about them being abused. I see this used as a “gotcha feminists!” so often and like without the anti feminist commentary this could be a post I’d see from any number do feminist bloggers I follow. Feminists talk about domestic violence happening to men. Feminists talk about prison rape. Feminists talk about childhood abuse of boys. These are feminist issues. I don’t exactly see any solutions to this problem being discussed here, just something tragic being used as a talking point against a group that actually wants that to stop happening lol.
Another Feminist who doesn’t know jack shit about Feminism.
See: Duluth Model.
Apparently this feminist came from a universe where the Duluth Model doesn’t exist, feminists never attacked Erin Pizzey and her family, feminists weren’t responsible for 30 years of covering up domestic violence statistics, and feminists never attempted to prevent discussion of men’s issues…
I respect feminists who genuinely to believe in equality and who want to help men.
I do not respect anyone who genuine believes in the concept of “toxic masculinity”
Do you actually understand what toxic masculinity as a concept refers to? It’s talking about the way men treat other men like they’re not real men of they don’t meet certain criteria. Real men don’t have long hair. Real men can’t wear certain clothes. Real men don’t get emotional. Real men like sex, so how can they be raped. Real men are strong, so someone assaulted by a woman isn’t a real man. Are you telling me standards like that are not imposed by men on each other? Because my experience is very much that they do. Opposing toxic masculinity is opposing the culture that men create that harms both each other, and women, and punishes men that don’t comply with it.
Define toxic femininity for us.
As far as I know that isn’t a term, but if it were in use and was used in a similar way to toxic masculinity, it would probably refer to women having to conform to beauty standards and such? Imposing standards in each other in areas of traditional femininity I guess. Things like house keeping or having children or keeping up with whatever trend or whatnot. Which I mean definitely happens, but is more of a symptom and less of a cause, so the toxic part of the name wouldn’t really fit. Not sure how you asking that has anything to do with the subject tho.
Ahhh, so toxic masculinity exists… because masculinity can be toxic but femininity? That can’t be toxic. It’s pure. And holy. And sacred.
And you’re totally not in a fucked up hate movement that describes the other as inherently toxic until it confesses it’s sin and and renounces it’s wrongness.
Yeah, wow.
You’re putting words in my mouth. I literally described femininity as a symptom. How does that give you the view that I see it as holy? Gender is a lie period, but that’s not the point here.
Toxic masculinity is toxic because it perpetuates itself. Because it’s a cause. Men bully each other into behaving a certain way in order to be perceived as men, and then these men turn around and do the same to other men. The behaviors enforced can harm both men and women.
Femininity isn’t toxic because being traditionally feminine doesn’t allow one much capacity for harm. Although I just realized I probably should have worded things better by pointing out that women can enforce the standards of toxic masculinity just like men. We ARE capable of saying holding men up to harmful standards. But anyway feminity can sort of be enforced by women, against women, but usually the systems causing women to behave in specificly harmful feminine ways are from outside. Like having to live up to certain standards to be hire able.
Sorry the wording there is a bit of a clusterfuck, but TL;DR toxic masculinity creates more toxic masculinity, toxic femininity doesn’t work as a term because harmful feminine behaviors are typically caused by other systems.
Being traditionally feminine means one can’t really do harm. Only traditional masculinity has that capacity. Mind you were going to ignore any benefits if this traditional masculinity and it’s inherent toxicity.. because, you know, reasons.
Women are capable of promoting toxic masculinity… BUT WE WOULDN’T CALL THAT TOXIC FEMININITY NOW WOULD WE!?!?!? BECAUSE THEN WE WOULD HAVE TO CONFRONT THE FUCKING ENORMOUS POWER THAT WOULD GIVE WOMEN OVER SOCIETY…
No, it’s still toxic masculinity. Because, again, reasons.
I mean holy fuck have you not thought about this shit at all? Are you just vomiting up talking points?
For all this talk of toxic masculinity, the only thing I see is feminists making fun of men for being too masculine, not men making fun of men for being less. I am not that masculine but you know what? I have never been made fun of by another man for having long hair and not having big muscles. I have never been made fun of by men for playing d&d or magic the gathering. The only time I was ever made fun of was because I was fat, but then again women have the same thing happen to them so not really toxic masculinity, more like assholes being assholes.
So for all this talk about men forcing men to act like men, I haven’t seen it.
I really wanna punch my gender in throat sometimes. Just take all this toxic-feminist crap, ball it up into a shoddy statue, and just do an open-palm strike on its jugular.
