My friends just had their first child. He has been diagnosed with Lissencephaly which is a rare and incurable neurological disorder.
I don’t ask much of my followers. But I am stopping you right now and asking you to AT LEAST reblog this.
Jaxon’s parents are good people who have very little money. I know we’re all strapped for cash, but like I said, if you can’t donate, please AT LEAST REBLOG this.

THIS IS HOW THE BRITISH PRESS RESPONDS TO THE KILLINGS OF DISABLED CHILDREN. All of these extracts were taken from UK news websites. the final tweet is in response to a now-deleted tweet from politician Sandy Kaylan, who praised a mother for ‘euthanising’ her infant children
tania Clarence, 43, admitted to smothering three of her children, all of whom suffered from physical disabilities. Regardless of the circumstances that led to their tragic deaths, these methods of reporting are unethical and go against the British editors code of practice – which states that, once proceedings are active, the press cannot publish any material that could create substantial risk of prejudice in court. The language used in these articles (“tragic mum”, “the unbearable burden of care”, putting the word murder in scare quotes, etc) does exactly that. Reading these articles, it is clear who we are meant to “side” with.
that these rules on court proceedings are apparently not applicable to cases involving the killing of disabled children shows how little the British press (and by extension, the public) cares about the welfare of disabled people in this country. Calling these children burdens and implying they deserved to die reinforces ableism and makes the world a more dangerous place for disabled people. Yet the press does not count it as encouraging prejudice. maybe it’s because we believe the unlawful killing of disabled infants does not “count” as a real crime
This is abhorrent.
5,000 notes. Tumblr really that’s it?
WHY?! ;_;

“registry? she’s registered at target. her name is Allison Brown and she’s a 24401 area code. meanwhile, I’m thinking of setting up a gofundme or something similar for her on oh-snap-pro-lifers. We would greatly appreciate any support you could offer, and thank you for being such a good person that I would feel comfortable asking you this.”
I fully understand that caring for a child with special needs brings many unique challenges, the least of which is financial. I have posted her registry information on Cultureshift in the hopes that others will help Allison in her time of need. I purchased her an Evenflo BabySuite and it should arrive between October 22-27, 2014.

Dear mom who just received a prenatal Down syndrome diagnosis,
I know how you feel.
Except — unlike you, I was holding my new baby, Kate, in my arms when I found out. She was wrapped in a blanket, looking up at me as I cried, listening to the Neonatologist on staff tell me — only minutes after she was born — that she had Down syndrome. And what that meant.
He said that it meant she had an extra chromosome. And that she would have learning delays. He said that it meant she was significantly predisposed to certain medical conditions, including congenital heart defects — and that we should get her heart tested right away. He said that it meant she had low muscle tone and may not be able to breastfeed. He said that it meant she would do things on a different schedule than other kids.
And in those first few days, after hearing those statistics, talking to doctors and researching online, I thought I knew what it “meant” to have a child with Down syndrome. And quite frankly, I was devastated.
And so it is with you.
But let me tell you — from one mother to another — those facts are not what it means to have a child with Down syndrome.
Many of those facts may not even apply to you. Some might, but many might not. I’ve learned this with all of my children. And I never allow generalizations to set my expectations…

Because only fetuses have the right to life, liberty and happiness. Because you know, people with uteri might not want or desire this for themselves, like… ever.
When you really think about it…
That’s interesting, because last I checked, fetuses weren’t capable of depriving their mothers of their rights to life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness. They also aren’t capable of killing anyone or bringing themselves into existence, so there goes that theory.
If you don’t like a comparison, you should refute it with logic instead of carelessly throwing around words like ‘racist.’
Okay so here’s a few exampes of how fetuses do this:
Life: Childbirth is 14x more dangerous than abortion. Childbirth kills women* every single year. Oh I forgot, you don’t care about the fact that THOSE are lives too.
Liberty: Are you saying that the fourteen year old rape victim who gets pregnant is ‘free’ when she is forced to give birth to her rapists child? Sounds pretty opressive to me.
Persuit of Happiness: The majority of women* who get an abortion report feelings of relief. And nearly every woman* who is turned away and denied abortion say they wished they had recieved the abortion. Sounds like the women* getting abortions are actually happier than the women* who seek one and are denied.
I try using logic but frankly you ignore everything anyone actually says and whine about how you’re not really a racist for compring a group of people who can feel, understand and are autonomous to fetuses. Fetuses who are non-autonomous, can’t feel pain and can’t understand anything.
You are almost directly saying people of colour can not understand things or feel pain or emotions and that they are not sentient when you compare them to fetuses. That’s racist.
That was an interesting read. But you didn’t really need to spend all that time typing, because you still didn’t prove a single point.
“here’s a few exampes of how fetuses do this:”
Life: Your example does not explain how the fetus is responsible for their mother’s loss of life, because death by childbirth is never the unborn child’s fault.
Liberty: Your example does not explain how the fetus is responsible for their mother’s loss of liberty because conception due to rape is never the unborn child’s fault.
Pursuit of Happiness: Your example does not explain how the fetus is responsible for their mother’s loss of happiness, unless you’re saying that it’s okay for a child to die for the sake of their mother’s happiness? “Whatever makes mommy happy?”
No, you’re trying to justify killing the fetus. If you were using logic, you would understand that in comparing abortion to the Pacific slave trade, I am not minimizing the suffering of one group. I’m just refusing to erase the suffering of the other. (The reason this bothers you is because, in order to have a clean conscious, you have to erase the suffering of the latter. You can’t acknowledge that the unborn are people, because then your religious dedication to abortion becomes abominable.)
In short, I’m not being racist; you’re being ageist. But thanks anyway for taking this time to talk with me and spread the truth about abortion by reblogging my post. 🙂
Have a great night!
